Dennis A. Blakeslee

Dennis Albert Blakeslee (born March 11, 1856 in New Haven , Connecticut , †  April 5, 1933 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1911 and 1913 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Dennis Blakeslee attended public schools in his home country and then worked in his father's construction company, which later expanded to include railway construction. He later also entered the financial industry and became president of a bank. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1880 and 1881 he was a member of the New Haven City Council; from 1884 to 1890 he was the city's fire officer. Between 1907 and 1910 he was a member of the Connecticut Senate . In June 1908 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where William Howard Taft was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In 1910, Blakeslee was elected lieutenant governor of Connecticut, alongside Simeon Eben Baldwin . He held this office between 1911 and 1913. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1878 he was married to Lizzie Finette Law, with whom he had six children. He died on April 5, 1933 in his hometown of New Haven.
