Ephraim H. Hyde

Ephraim H. Hyde (born June 1, 1812 in Stafford , Connecticut , †  June 18, 1896 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1867 and 1869 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Nothing is known about Ephraim Hyde's youth and schooling. There is also no information in the sources about his career outside of politics. He became a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1851 and 1852 ; between 1860 and 1888 he was a member of the State Senate several times . Before his time as Vice Governor, he was President Pro Tempore, the incumbent president of this body, which is officially headed by the respective Vice Governor.

In 1866, Hyde was elected lieutenant governor of Connecticut alongside James E. English . He held this office between 1867 and 1869. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he continued to be politically active and continued his career as State Senator. Ephraim Hyde died on June 18, 1896.
