Francis Loomis (politician, 1812)

Francis B. Loomis (born 1812 in New London , Connecticut - died 1892 there ) was an American politician and banker. From 1877 to 1879 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

The sources on Francis Loomis are very poor. Nothing is known about his youth and school education. He lived in New London and became a political member of the Democratic Party . In 1876 he was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut on the side of Richard D. Hubbard . He held this office between 1877 and 1879. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . He was also president of the local First National Bank. He had been married to Elizabeth M. Inghram since 1836 and had a daughter named Betsey Ingham Loomis, born in 1839. In the same year 1839 his wife died.
