Nancy S. Wyman (* 1946 in Tolland , Connecticut ) is an American politician . From 2011 to 2019 she was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Nancy Wyman grew up in the Brooklyn borough of New York , where her father was an accountant. She trained in X-ray technology at Long Island College Hospital . She later embarked on a political career in Connecticut as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1979 and 1987 she sat on the Education Committee of the city of Tolland; from 1987 to 1995 she was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives . She then became the first woman to hold the post of State Comptroller between 1994 and 2010 . In addition, she was or is a member of some social institutions in her home country.

In 2010, Nancy Wyman was elected lieutenant governor of Connecticut alongside Dan Malloy . She has held this office since January 5, 2011. She is Deputy Governor and Chairwoman of the State Senate . In 2014, both Malloy and Wyman were confirmed in office. After the 2018 gubernatorial election, their mandate ended in January 2019 with the swearing-in of Ned Lamont and Susan Bysiewicz .
