Joseph J. Fauliso

Joseph John Fauliso (born February 16, 1916 in Stonington , Connecticut , † August 20, 2014 ) was an American politician . Between 1980 and 1991 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Joseph Fauliso graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island . After a subsequent law degree at Boston University and his admission to the bar, he began to work in this profession. He then became a judge in Hartford . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He became a Hartford town councilor. Since 1966 he was a member of the Connecticut Senate . At the beginning of 1980 he announced that he would not stand for another Senate candidacy. At the request of the then governor Ella T. Grasso , however, he let himself be changed. After his re-election to the State Senate, he was appointed President Pro Tempore, acting President of this body. The official president was Lieutenant Governor William A. O'Neill according to the state constitution .

When Ella Grasso became terminally ill with cancer, she resigned from the office of governor on December 31, 1980. She died on February 5, 1981. After this resignation, Lieutenant Governor O'Neill automatically became the new Governor of Connecticut, and Fauliso as the incumbent Senate President became Lieutenant Governor. He held this office after two re-elections until January 9, 1991. He was Deputy Governor and official chairman of the State Senate. His relationship with Governor O'Neill was excellent. In 1990, both politicians decided not to run for office again. Joseph Fauliso had a son with his wife Ann-Marie.
