Eunice Groark

Eunice S. Groark (born February 1, 1938 in Hartford , Connecticut - † May 9, 2018 in Bloomfield , Connecticut) was an American politician . Between 1991 and 1995 she was lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut.

Career

Eunice Groark graduated from Bryn Mawr College . She then studied law at the University of Connecticut . Later she also worked as a lawyer. Politically, she initially joined the Republican Party . Between 1981 and 1985 she was on Hartford City Council . She was also a member of many regional commissions. Politically, she switched to the A Connecticut Party founded in 1990 by the former US Senator and future Governor Lowell P. Weicker .

That year, Groark was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Connecticut alongside Weicker. She held this office between 1991 and 1995. She was Deputy Governor and Chairwoman of the State Senate . In 1994 she ran unsuccessfully for governor. After the end of her time as lieutenant governor, she worked in the private sector. Among other things, she worked for the company Virtus Variable Insurance Trust .
