Career

Mewborn jumped on December 30, 1984 as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1984/85 for the first time in the ski jumping World Cup . However, he was rather unsuccessful over the entire course of the tour. At the 1985 Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tirol , which took place shortly afterwards , he jumped to 5th place in team competition with Nils Stolzlechner , Mark Konopacke and Mike Holland . In the following World Cup competition in Örnsköldsvik , he achieved his first World Cup points with 10th place.

The beginning of the World Cup season 1985/86 was just as positive as the last one had ended. He again achieved World Cup points in Thunder Bay and Lake Placid . At the Four Hills Tournament 1985/86 he was again unlucky, but was able to achieve the best result of his career in the first competition after the tour with 6th place. At the end of the season he finished 26th in the overall World Cup ranking with 25 World Cup points.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 , Mewborn reached 54th place on the normal hill.

After the Games, Mewborn ended his active ski jumping career at the age of just 22.
