Rickard Karlsson (born July 21, 1979 ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who has played for Nyköpings Hockey and Hammarby Hockey in HockeyAllsvenskan , among others . His brother Henrik also played for Hammarby Hockey and was also active for the Calgary Flames from the National Hockey League during his career .

Career

Rickard Karlsson was initially active for the IFK Tumba , where his brother had also gone through the youth department. The defender made his debut for the club during the 1997/98 season in Division 1 , which at that time was the second highest level of performance - behind the leading Elitserien . In the following season, the left shooter ran for the first time for the league competitor Botkyrka HC , with the team after the introduction of the Allsvenskan was classified as the second highest division in the meanwhile acting third division Division 1.
