Ricky Lee Green (born December 27, 1960 in Tarrant County , Texas , USA , † October 8, 1997 in Walker County , Texas, USA) was an American serial killer who was executed in 1997.

Events

Ricky Green stabbed, castrated and beheaded 16-year-old Jeffery Davis in April 1985, who was found in a Fort Worth swamp . In October 1985, he used a knife and hammer to kill the 28-year-old dancer Betty Monroe, whom he hitchhiked in Fort Worth. In November 1985, he also killed 27-year-old Sandra Bailey, whom he met in a western bar in Fort Worth. In September 1986, he stabbed and castrated 28-year-old Steven Fefferman in his Fort Worth home.

In 1989 Green was charged with the murder of Fefferman and sentenced to death in 1990. The sentence and verdict were upheld by the Texas Court of Appeals in 1992. His wife, now divorced, had contributed extensively to his arrest and conviction. While Green had accused her of being an accomplice in the two murders of the women, she claimed that she was forced to do so by her husband. She was eventually sentenced to ten years suspended prison sentence. In November 1991 she made an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show . The author Patricia Springer wrote the book Blood Rush about the crimes in 1994 .

Ricky Green was executed by lethal injection in the Huntsville Unit in October 1997 .
