The Klingenthaler Meinel jumped in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup (COC) from 1991 . In his first season in 1992/93 he reached 15th place in the overall COC ranking with 43 points. On March 18, 1992 he reached the bronze medal in team jumping at the Junior World Championships in Vuokatti, Finland . After he beginning of the following season was able to achieve good results in the Continental Cup, he was nominated for the A-national team and denied on December 5, 1992 at the Swedish Falun his first jump in the Ski Jumping World Cup and was in that season in the ski flying World Cup used. In Kulm at the end of January 1993, for example, he was the second-best German jumper behind Christof Duffner on both days of the competition, placing 26 and 27. In his first two World Cup seasons, however, he was otherwise largely unsuccessful. It was not until January 4, 1995 that he was able to jump into the top ten for the first time in Innsbruck with 5th place. In the rest of the season he also reached the points several times. At the end of the 1994/95 season he reached 31st place in the overall World Cup ranking. Already in the overall ranking of the Four Hills Tournament 1994/95 he was successful with 17th place. Until 1997 Meinel jumped in the Continental Cup and the World Cup in parallel, but remained largely unsuccessful. That is why he ended his active ski jumping career in 1997.
After his career, the trained fitness specialist Meinel studied tourism and worked in the hotel industry in London, Berlin, Erfurt and Günzburg. He also initially worked as an employed manager and trainer at a fitness center in Chemnitz. In February 2012 he founded his own gym there.
