Rico Steinmann (born December 26, 1967 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former German football player .

career

Rico Steinmann began his career as a midfielder at FC Karl-Marx-Stadt . He was considered to be one of the greatest soccer talents in the GDR and from 1986 to 1990 he played 23 games for the GDR national soccer team . After the end of the GDR , he moved to 1. FC Köln in the 1st Bundesliga in 1991 . In 1997 he went to the Dutch club FC Twente Enschede , where he ended his career as an active player in 2000. In 2003 he acted briefly as manager of Chemnitzer FC. In 2004 he coached the Vorwärts Epe football club in Münsterland.
