The Riedenburger Brauhaus is a brewery in the Lower Bavarian town of Riedenburg in the Altmühltal. The brewery was bought by the Krieger family in 1866 and is now in the fifth generation of the family. With around 30 employees, a beer output of around 30,000 hectoliters is achieved annually. The beer is sold throughout Germany and in 17 countries worldwide. The brewery has been brewing purely from an ecological perspective since 1994.
history
The Riedenburger Brauhaus was one of the first breweries to start producing wheat beers. Riedenburger wheat became the market leader in the region under the name of the Unterkrieger brewery at the time.
In 1989 the company began to align its production according to ecological guidelines ( Bioland ). In 1994 the brewery switched its production completely to organic, making it the first brewery in Bavaria to brew purely according to ecological guidelines. It goes without saying that only organic raw materials are used for beer production .
Since 1997, the brewery has not filtered its beers in order to keep them in their natural state. In 1997, a cooperation was also concluded with the Plankstetten Abbey . Since then, the Riedenburger Brauhaus has been using barley , spelled , wheat , einkorn and emmer from the monastery's ecologically certified agriculture. The Riedenburger Brauhaus is one of the few manufacturers of beers with the old grain types Einkorn and Emmer.
