While the largest specimen caught with a line in 1997 from Zhejiang Province weighed only 5.9 kilograms and was around 70 centimeters long, professional fishermen caught Wuchang bream up to around 70 kilograms in the Yangtze River.

distribution and habitat

The Giant Bream is found in some Chinese waters such as the Yangtze River , Lake Newshan (a bay of Lake Liangzi) and Lake Yuli. The fish was also introduced to some regions of Japan and Taiwan , as well as the Philippines and Kibbutz Gan Shmuel in Israel .
