history
It was opened on September 29, 1895 by the Venetian Alpine Club. The first innkeeper was Angelo Del Favero (Aucel) from San Vito di Cadore, who had a good command of English from his stay in America and was therefore optimally prepared for international guests. Angelo and his family ran the rifugio from 1895 to 1951, i.e. for more than half a century. After his death, his son-in-law Joseph Zwigel, known as "Bepo todesco", took over the hut and later handed it over to Lucia De Lucia, who ran the hut alone. In 1990 it passed into the hands of the Ossi Marino family.
