The riha Wesergold drinks GmbH & Co. KG is an international beverage company and the largest German fruit juice - and fruit nectar maker with sales of 984 million liters (2018). The personally liable partner is riha Richard Hartinger Getränke GmbH .

history

The company was founded in 1934 by glassblower Richard Hartinger († 1944) as a family business riha beverage group for apple juice production in Exten , a district of Rinteln . Initially, apple cider was produced for personal use. His son Richard Hartinger jun. (* 1929) joined the Mosterschule after completing a commercial apprenticeship and later took over the management. In 1956 the first building was erected on the company premises in Rinteln.

Since 1970 riha has also been offering carbonated beverages from the mineral spring in Extertal ( recognized as medicinal water in 1980 ) .

In 1979 the Hartinger group bought Mineralquelle Zurzach AG in Bad Zurzach (Switzerland).

In 1983 the Öhringen production facility of the former WLZ operation naturella Südsaft Aktiengesellschaft was taken over .

In 1990 the Fruchtquell fruit juice company in Dodow was added, where the Hartinger beverage group built one of the largest fruit juice companies in Europe with a production area of ​​12,000 m² and storage area of ​​15,000 m².

The juice bottler Agrozumos in Lekunberri ( Navarra ) has also been part of the group since 1994 .

In summer 2014 Gerber-Emig bought a production facility in Waibstadt , which had to be sold in the course of the merger with Refresco. In November 2015, production in Öhringen, 70 km away, was closed and relocated to the Waibstadt site.

The company generates over 500 million euros in annual sales worldwide and employs around 2000 people.

The product range includes a number of non-alcoholic soft drinks, both sparkling and non-sparkling. These include not-from- concentrate juices , fruit and vegetable juices, nectars, fruit juice drinks and soft drinks ( iced teas and similar) made from fruit juice concentrates from the brands WeserGold , Delicade , Quelly , DURSTLÖSCHER and - under the name Extaler - marketed under the brands naturella and rio d'oro . Lemonades , spritzers and mineral water.

The drinks are produced both in Germany and abroad. In Germany, production takes place in Rinteln , Dodow and Waibstadt (near Heidelberg). Abroad there are production facilities in Bad Zurzach , Lekunberri and in Siquirres in Costa Rica .

The Hartinger Meisterbräu microbrewery also belongs to the company . The production facility is housed in a small hotel with an attached restaurant in Rinteln and brews beers certified according to Bioland guidelines twice a week . These are served directly in the hotel restaurant as well as in another Rinteln location.
