Rikitea is the capital of the island of Mangareva , French Polynesia and is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean . It has about 800 inhabitants.
Infrastructure
The place has a cathedral that was inaugurated in 1839 and is the largest cathedral in Polynesia. There are a few small shops in Rikitea. All goods that need to be imported are delivered from Tahiti by cargo ship . A flight connection connects the island with Tahiti once a week. The island is accessible by telephone, but only in Rikitea is there a connection to the Internet .
