28.2

Daniell is an impact crater on the north front of the moon in the area of Lacus Somniorum , northeast of the Posidonius crater . The lunar groove system of the Rimae Daniell is located some distance north of the secondary crater Daniell D in a north-westerly direction. The rim of the crater is oval and the interior has fracture structures .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British chemist and meteorologist John Frederick Daniell .

Some distance to the east of Daniell, north of the small Luther crater , the extensive ridge system of the Rimae Daniell extends between Lacus Somniorum in the north and Mare Serenitatis in the southwest.
