Rimvydas Norkus

Rimvydas Norkus (born January 17, 1979 in the Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian civil procedure lawyer , judge , court president of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and professor of the Mykolo Romerio universitetas (MRU).

Life

From 1996 to 2001 Norkus completed his law degree at the Vilnius University Law Faculty . From 2003 he teaches at the MRU. In 2005 he received his doctorate in law at the MRU on the subject of "Summarized negotiation of civil matters: theoretical and practical aspects" in Vilnius . Since September 2012 he has been a professor at the Chair of Business Law at the MRU.

From 1999 to 2003 he worked as a consultant and then as an advisor to the chairman of the civil senate and later to the court president at Lietuvos apeliacinis teismas . From 2003 to 2009 he advised the chairman of Lietuvos vyriausiasis administracinis teismas and headed the department for judicial practice as director. From 2009 to 2010 he worked as a lawyer-linguist in the European Parliament . From 2010 to 2012 he was Director of the Legal Research Department at Lietuvos Aukščiausiasis Teismas . From 2012 to 2013 he was a judge at Lietuvos apeliacinis teismas. He has been a judge since April 15, 2005 and of the Lithuanian Supreme Court since December 2014 .
