The Ring (Polish: Rynek ) is the central market square of the Lower Silesian city of Legnica (German: Liegnitz). The rectangular square forms the center of the historical center of the city.

Location and description

The ring is located in the center of the historical center of Liegnitz. Several streets lead into the square. Złotoryjska Street (German Goldberger Street ) and Najświętszej-Marii-Panny Street (German Liebfrauenstraße ) to the east run from the Ring to the south-west . Furthermore, the ring is delimited in the south by the Plac Katedralny (Eng. Cathedral Square ). Chojnowska- (Eng. Haynauerstrasse ) and Piekarska-Strasse run to the west . Swietego Jana and Rycerska Streets begin in the north of the ring. On the east side is the beginning of Środkowa Street.

The ring has two inner blocks, which are separated by an alley.

During the Second World War , most of the development on the edge of the ring was destroyed and rebuilt in modern forms in the 1960s. The current design of the square dates from 2008.
