Rino Mondellini (born September 2, 1908 in Milan , Italy , † August 1974 in France ) was an Italian film architect for French film.

Life

Mondellini learned his trade in his hometown at the Milan Polytechnic and went to France in 1927. There he continued his apprenticeship and then worked as an architect. Shortly after the end of the Second World War , Mondellini joined the film industry and initially became assistant production designer , and from 1949 sole responsible film architect. Mondellini outfitted lightweight comedies, dramas and crime novels, and sporadically he also provided film construction drafts for American A-films shot in France. In later years Mondellini also supplied ambitious early works by later star directors such as Louis Malle (“ Elevator to the Scaffold ”), Claude Sautet (“ The Panther is Chased ”) and Costa-Gavras (“ Murder included in the fare ”) as well as Jacques Becker's farewell performance The Hole and the little-noticed late productions by Marcel CarnéLike Young Wolves ” and “ Murderers According to Rules ”. Just before Rino Mondellini died, he made his television debut with drafts for a series.
