The Rish Pass ( Bulgarian Ришки проход / Rishki Prohod) is located in the Balkan Mountains , Bulgaria . The pass connects the places Shumen and Karnobat . In 759 Winech's troops put the Byzantine Emperor Constantine to flight in the battle of the Rishki Pass .
