Risen is a nature reserve in the southern Swedish municipality of Lund in the province of Skåne län . The reserve has a size of about 230  hectares and is located directly south of Genarp and 18 kilometers southeast of Lund . The nature reserve was established in 1980 by the Länsstyrelsen (provincial government) of the then still existing province of Malmöhus län .

Flora and fauna

There are a large number of biotopes in the reserve . The north-eastern part is dominated by a well-preserved pasture landscape with many fens in which mainly vascular plants occur. Hunting is prohibited in this area. The remaining part consists of small coniferous and deciduous forests . According to a study (2002) there are at least 18 endangered insect , lichen and bird species in the nature reserve , including ten species of beetles . Noteworthy animal species are, for example, the Valerian butterfly , which is rare in Scandinavia , Corticeus unicolor (a black beetle ), the hair-shielded collar buck , stock doves and small woodpeckers . The most common tree species are red beech and birch .
