Rispel is a village in the town of Wittmund in the Wittmund district in Lower Saxony . It belongs to the Wittmund district of Leerhafe .

location

Rispel lies six kilometers south of the core area of ​​Wittmund and 1.5 kilometers southeast of Leerhafe. The village is located on the L 11 , which leads from Wittmund via Leerhafe to Friedeburg , and on the L 813, which leads to the district town of Jever , nine kilometers away, as seen from Rispel to the northeast .

Rispel is mentioned for the first time in 1480. The name can be translated as "low bush forest made of scrub".

Attractions

To the south of Rispel, in the area of ​​the Knyphauser Forest, there are barrows . Of the original 100 or so hills that date back to the Bronze Age , most were leveled around 1900. Only a few have survived.
