The manor Schafstädt is a former manor at Markt 14 in Schafstädt , today part of Bad Lauchstädt in the Saalekreis . The castle-like baroque manor house is a listed building .

history

In 1302 a knight Siegfried von Schafstädt first appeared in documents. In 1448, the Merseburg bishop Johannes von Bose († 1463) enfeoffed a knight of Kötschau with the Schafstädt estate, which he had been cultivating since 1430. Schafstädt became the new ancestral home of the family, which in the following years acquired further properties in Körbisdorf , Langeneichstädt , Dölkau , Oberschmon , Ilmersdorf , Piskaborn and Solgüter zu Groß Salze . The von Kötschau family still owned the estate in 1718.

In 1730 the Merseburg councilor Johann Seifert owned the property. He apparently also had the representative house built. Then the estate came to the Lords of Lohs, who sold it to the Lords of Funk in 1756 .

In 1945 in the course of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone, the property was used by an agricultural production cooperative. After the fall of the Wall, the complex was initially empty. In 2002 the outbuildings of the estate were demolished and a modern nursing home was housed on the grounds of the castle. The manor house was renovated for residential purposes, modernized and expanded with a modern elevator tower.
