The River Ash is a junction of the River Colne in Surrey , England . It branches off at the southwest corner of King George VI Reservoir from the River Colne and flows in a southeast direction through Staines and Ashford . At the northwest corner of the Queen Mary Reservoir , the ash turns south to flow first in the west and then again in a south-easterly direction in the south along the reservoir and Shepperton Studios . The river passes Shepperton in the north and flows into the Thames at the southern end of Wheatley's Ait .
