history
The name Beal comes from the British language from the word Bel , which means “torrent”.
In 1892 a cotton company settled near the shore and produced cotton. Around 1997, the manufacturer Littlewoods changed the course of the Beal to promote the development of a new department store.
In 2005, raw sewage was discharged into the river, killing thousands of fish and raising health concerns for local residents.
