The River Crane is a watercourse in Greater London , England . It arises in Hayes in the London Borough of Hillingdon and flows south. It crosses the Grand Union Canal and from there forms the border between Hillingdon and the London Borough of Hounslow until it has flown past the east edge of London Heathrow Airport and then crosses the A30road . In the southwest of Twickenham , the River Crane forms the border between Hounslow and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames . Here the river turns in an easterly direction. East of Twickenham Station , the river then turns in a northerly direction to flow into the Thames at Isleworth , south of Isleworth Ait .

The Duke of Northumberland's River flows west of the Hunslow Heath into the River Crane. ( 51 ° 27 ′ 35 ″  N , 0 ° 24 ′ 5 ″  W ) In Twickenham the Duke of Northumberland 'River separates from the River Crane ( 51 ° 26 ′ 50 ″  N , 0 ° 20 ′ 50 ″  W ).
