The Rivière de Puvirnituq (also Rivière Puvirnituq ; formerly Rivière de Povungnituk ) is a 389 km long river in the Nunavik region in the far north of the Canadian province of Québec .
The river has its origin in the north of the Ungava peninsula . From there it flows in a south-westerly direction to the Baie de Puvirnituq , a bay of Hudson Bay , into which it flows east of Puvirnituq . A few kilometers from its mouth, it flows through the Lac de Puvirnituq . Its catchment area covers 28,500 km², its mean discharge is 480 m³ / s.
