Roar Hansen (born February 28, 1966 in Stidsvig ) is a Swedish football coach .

Career

As a player, Hansen acted in the Swedish amateur area. He was active for Tvärby IF , Stidsvigs IF , Kvidinge IF and Östra Ljungby IF before ending his playing career in the fall of 1989 and taking up his first coaching job at Stidsvigs IF the following year . In 1992 he moved to Klippans BIF as a youth coach , where he was promoted to head coach of the competition team in 1995. In 1998 he moved to league rivals Helsingborgs Södra , with whom he failed as second in his fourth division season at the end of the year in the promotion games to the third division. The following year he won the season with the club, he led the promoted team to third place in the 2000 season. Nevertheless, he moved within the league to Högaborgs BK .

In 2004 Hansen joined the first division Landskrona BoIS in the Allsvenskan as Jan Jönsson's assistant coach . When the club, which was in the relegation battle, separated from its head coach in early August, Hansen moved up as an interim coach. After one game he moved back into the second line, Mats Jingblad took over the coaching position. At the end of the season, the team stayed in eleventh place in the top division. In the following year, the team was in a relegation battle and ultimately missed relegation in the relegation games against the Gothenburg club GAIS . Hansen then left the club in December to accept an offer from third division club Ängelholms FF to work as head coach for the next two years. In his second year at the club he rose to the second-rate Superettan , his contract was extended by exercising options. After placing the team in the middle of the table in the following two years, he extended his contract again for two years in October 2009, despite the interest of several first division clubs.

At the end of November 2010, Hansen terminated his contract with Ängelholms FF in order to succeed Hans Gren at league rivals Östers IF . As fourth in the table - behind Ängelholms FF of all places - he missed the relegation place to Allsvenskan by three points in his first year, but in the second division season 2012 the team around Andreas Wihlborg , Patrik Bojent , Freddy Söderberg and Mario Vasilj were dominant and rose as leaders in the top division. Nevertheless, Hansen changed clubs and joined Helsingborgs IF in early December , where he signed a three-year deal.
