Robert Anthony Beckett (born January 2, 1986 in Mottingham, Bromley , London ) is a British comedian, presenter and actor.

Life

Becket grew up with four brothers in Mottingham, a district in the borough of Bromley in south-east London. He attended the Coopers School in Chislehurst.

He has been married to Louise Watts since 2014, with whom he has two daughters.

Career

Beckett started stand-up comedy in 2009 and won four awards in its first year. He took third place for his appearance in So You Think You're Funny and won the Amused Moose Laugh-Off, which enabled him to perform at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia . In Adelaide Beckett was nominated in the “Best Newcomer” category.

In 2011, Beckett made a guest appearance as Mike on the Channel 4 television series Fresh Meat .

He made his debut at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh in 2012 with his Rob Beckett's Summer Holiday program .

From 2012 to 2014 Beckett co-hosted I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! NOW! , a companion program for I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on ITV's second program ; he moderated the format alongside Laura Whitmore and Joe Swash. In October 2015, he announced that he would be leaving the format to focus on his tour; he was replaced by comedian David Morgan .

Beckett also presented the Sunday show Rock'N'Roll Football on the private radio station Absolute Radio from August 2014 to 2018.

At the side of comedian Ian Smith and former footballer Jimmy Bullard , Beckett hosted the satirical football podcast The Magic Sponge on British television station Dave; a "disrespectful look at the life of professional footballers."

In 2016 Beckett was a spokesperson for the series Celebs Go Dating for the British television channel E4. Also in the second season of the format, which began in February 2017 and this time was also dedicated to international celebrities from overseas, he commented and wrote articles. Since 2016, Beckett has been a team captain of the panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats on the British TV channel More4.

Beckett was a nominee and later winner on the third season of Taskmaster , which aired in October 2016. In 2018, he presented the Saturday night entertainment formats Wedding Day Winners alongside Lorraine Kelly and All Together Now with Geri Halliwell on BBC One .
