Robert Kearney (born March 26, 1986 in Dundalk ) is an Irish rugby union player who is used on the positions outside three quarters and goalkeeper . He is active for the Irish national team and the province of Leinster .

Kearney played rugby and Gaelic football in his youth . He was used for the U19 national team and the reserve team Ireland A before he played for Leinster in the Magners League for the first time in 2005 . At the Six Nations 2007 he was in the squad of the Irish national team for the first time, but was not used. He made his debut against Argentina in the summer of the same year . Since the Six Nations in 2008 he has been part of Ireland's main formation, his first attempt against Scotland . When the Irish won the Grand Slam at the Six Nations in 2009 , he was used in all games. As a result, he was nominated for the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa . He also won the Heineken Cup with Leinster that year .
