Robert Eugen Leopold Auer (born November 27, 1873 in Zagreb , Austro-Hungarian Monarchy , † March 8, 1952 in Zagreb, Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia ) was a Croatian painter.

However, his artistic talent was soon discovered and he then switched first to the arts and crafts school and then to the academy in Vienna and then to the artists' academies in Munich and Paris . After Robert Auer had lived in New York for two years, he returned to Zagreb, where he was appointed professor at the School of Arts and Crafts. In 1918 he retired early because of his friendliness towards the Germans.

Robert Auer was a full member of the artists 'cooperative in Zagreb and a full member of the South Slavic artists' union "Lada".

In addition to figural compositions and portraits, Robert Auer also created paintings of landscapes.

In 2010 a retrospective of over a hundred paintings by Robert Auer took place in the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery in Zagreb, some of which are owned by museums, but many of them are in private hands.
