Robert Bengtsson-Bärkroth (born June 4, 1968 in Gothenburg ; sometimes just Robert Bengtsson or Robert Bärkroth ) is a former Swedish football player who is now working as a coach. In his career he played 239 games in the Allsvenskan and was briefly in England as a player. He is the father of Nicklas Bärkroth .

Career

Bengtsson-Bärkroth made his debut at the age of 19 for Västra Frölunda IF in Allsvenskan. Set up as a striker at the beginning of his career , he increasingly developed into a defensive player in the following years. In November 1999, the Swede, now finally converted into a defensive player, moved on loan to the English club FC Barnsley , but was only used twice in cup games. For the 2000 season he returned to his hometown club Västra Frölunda IF. At the end of the season, however, was relegation to the Superettan . Therefore, he left the club and moved within the Allsvenskan to the traditional club Örgryte IS . He played here until 2003, before ending his active career.

Following his playing career, Bengtsson-Bärkroth moved to the coaching bench. In 2007 he took over the coaching position at the women's second division Jitex BK , which he should lead back to the Damallsvenskan . After this failed, he was replaced by Benny Otter . He then concentrated again on the job he had already taken on in 2006 as a talent scout at the Nordic Sky player agency .
