Robert Brown (born July 23, 1921 in Swanage , England , † November 11, 2003 ) was a British actor.

Before Robert Brown appeared in James Bond films, he had a long career as a supporting actor in various film and television productions. Robert Brown appeared in five Bond films, four of them in the role of M . In the film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) he played Admiral Hargreaves. In The Third Man (1949) both he and Bernard Lee , his predecessor as M, had a supporting role.
