Robert Charles Browne

Robert Charles Browne (born October 31, 1952 in Coushatta , Louisiana ) is an American murderer and alleged serial killer .

Browne dropped out of high school and entered the army , in which he served from 1969 to 1976 his military service. He was dishonorably dismissed from service for drug abuse . Browne has been serving a life sentence for the murder of a 13-year-old schoolgirl since 1995 .

On July 27, 2006, he confessed to another 49 murders, which he claims to have committed between 1970 and his arrest in 1995. According to his own testimony, he committed his first murder in 1970 while serving in South Korea . He claims to have committed further murders in the United States in the following decades , seventeen in Louisiana , nine in Colorado , seven in Texas , five in Arkansas , three in Mississippi , two each in California , New Mexico and Oklahoma, and one murder in State Washington . If his confessions are true, this makes him the serial killer with the highest number of victims in US history. This “rank” has been held by Gary Ridgway with 48 proven murders.
