Willi Koops

Willi Koops (born November 13, 1896 in Nebenstedt ; † January 11, 1972 in Dannenberg ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was from 1949 to 1968 Mayor of Dannenberg, 1946-1958 and 1968-1972 District of Lüchow-Dannenberg and 1953-1957 Member of the German Bundestag .

Life

After attending elementary school, Koops worked in his father's farm from 1911. From 1916 he took part in the First World War as a soldier , from which he returned in 1919. In 1922 he worked as a freight forwarder and ran an official railway company specializing in logistics for coal, grain, fodder and fertilizers as well as for furniture and long-distance freight transport. After the Second World War , Koops was, in addition to his political and professional activity, chairman of the Elbe-Jeetzel-Deichverband and chairman of the water supply association.

Koops participated in the founding of the CDU in Dannenberg and was a member of the CDU district executive. He had been city councilor in Dannenberg since 1945 and held the office of mayor there from 1949 to 1968. He was also a member of the district council from 1949 to 1968 and from 1946 to 1958 and from 1968 until his death, district administrator of the Lüchow-Dannenberg district. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957 as a directly elected member of constituency 35 (Lüneburg - Dannenberg) . In Parliament he was a member of the Transport Committee.
