Robert E. Lee Faris

Robert E. Lee Faris (born February 2, 1907 in Waco , † January 25, 1998 in Seattle ) was an American sociologist . He taught as a professor at the University of Washington and served as the 51st President of the American Sociological Association in 1961 . Faris worked mostly on issues of deviant behavior .

Faris studied at the University of Illinois , where he passed his bachelor's and master's degrees and also received his doctorate . He taught at Brown University , Bryn Mawr College , McGill University , Syracuse University and came to the University of Washington in 1948, where he was a professor until 1970.
