Robert E. Vardeman
Robert Edward Vardeman (born January 6, 1947 in Palo Pinto , Texas ) is an American science fiction and fantasy writer. In addition to SF&F, he also wrote some western and detective novels .
Life
Vardeman studied physics and earned a master's degree in engineering . He then worked for four years in solid state physics at Sandia National Laboratories .
His debut Pleasure Planet , an erotic science fiction novel, appeared within 10 years with 6 different titles under 6 pseudonyms, including those as humorous as Marv Elous . As a result, he wrote numerous novel cycles and individual novels, best known the fantasy series War of Powers , which he wrote together with Victor Milán , and the six-volume cycle Cenotaph Road . He also wrote two tie-ins for the original series of Raumschiff Enterprise , which were also translated into German. He also wrote novel versions of the video games God of War and God of War II , which also appeared in German translation.
John Clute described Vardeman as an author "whose ruthless productivity [...] has yet to produce narratives that are more than craftsmanship."
