Robert Freitag (lawyer)

Robert Freitag (born September 15, 1968 in Kabul , Afghanistan ) is a German lawyer and university professor at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg .

Life

After graduating from the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Göttingen in 1988 , Freitag studied law at the Universities of Göttingen , Bayreuth and Bordeaux until 1994 . In 1992 he obtained the Maîtrise en droit public in Bordeaux and the first state examination in 1994 in Bayreuth. After the Second State Examination in 1996 (Bayreuth), he worked in Bayreuth under Ulrich Spellenberg as a research assistant, but in 1999 he moved to the University of Bielefeld to the chair of Thomas Pfeiffer . Nevertheless, he obtained his doctorate in Bayreuth in 2000. After two years as an in-house lawyer, Freitag returned to the University of Bayreuth in 2002 and completed his habilitation there in 2005. With his habilitation, he acquired the venia legendi for the subjects of civil law, international private and procedural law, comparative law, German and European commercial and company law.

Robert Freitag held his first chair with the Chair of German and European Commercial and Corporate Law at the University of Hamburg , where he worked from 2006 to 2011. Since 2011 he has held the chair for German, European and international private and commercial law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
