Robert Roach Giertsen (born August 24, 1894 in Bergen , † October 27, 1978 there ) was a Norwegian sailor .
successes
Robert Giertsen, a member of the Bergen Seilforening was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 10-meter class after the International Rule of 1919 Olympic champion . He was a crew member of the Mosk II , which participated as the only boat in its class. The Mosk II , whose crew also consisted of Otto Falkenberg , Arne Sejersted , Willy Gilbert , Halfdan Schjøtt and Trygve Schjøtt as well as skipper Charles Arentz , was sufficient to reach the goal to win the gold medal in two races due to lack of competition.
Giertsen had a business education and studied in Denmark , Germany and England . Back in Bergen, he took over the family company's bookkeeping.
