Robert Gist

Robert Gist (born June 16, 1924 in Chicago , Illinois , † May 21, 1998 in Magalia , California ) was an American film director and actor .

biography

Robert grew up in poor conditions in Chicago during the Great Depression . Even as a child he wanted to be an actor and initially worked for the radio station in Chicago. Finally the breakthrough came; he received small roles in the Chicago area and later on Broadway .

His acting debut in front of the camera was a small role in The Miracle of Manhattan in 1947, directed by George Seaton . In 1959 he stood in front of the camera for company petticoat . Here he told director Blake Edwards of his interest in becoming a director . Edwards trained him.

On February 14, 1954 - at the age of 30 - he married the actress Agnes Moorehead . The age difference was 24 years that Robert Gist was younger. But the marriage lasted only 4 years - on March 12, 1958 the divorce took place.
