Robert Hoffmann (born January 18, 1977 in Weißwasser , German Democratic Republic ) is a former German ice hockey player and current coach, who was most recently under contract as the head coach of the Lausitzer Füchse in the DEL2 .

Career

Robert Hoffmann began his career in the junior staff of ES Weißwasser , with whose student team he became German student champion in the 1990/91 season. In 1997 he left his home club and joined TuS Harsefeld . He came to the ERC Haßfurt Sharks in 2000 via the ESC Dorfen and the EHC Waldkraiburg from the 2nd League South and the EV Ravensburg . There he was for the first time longer than a season under contract and reached the major league playoffs of the 2002/03 season with the "Sharks" .

After this success he switched to the Dresdner Eislöwen , with whom he made promotion to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season and also won the league championship. In the following season he played for the Eislöwen in the 2nd Bundesliga, but did not get a new contract after the end of the season and moved back to the Oberliga to the Wölfen Freiburg. In the summer of 2007 he was already in contract negotiations with the wolves when he received an offer from the Lausitzer Füchse . He accepted this and returned to his home club after more than 10 years. In January 2008 he asked those responsible for the foxes to terminate his contract and returned to the wolves. With the Wolves he made it to the 2nd Bundesliga, where they have been playing ever since. For the 2009/10 season he did not get a contract with Freiburg.

In October 2009 Hoffmann was signed by the Saale Bulls Halle , for whom he played in the Regionalliga Ost in the 2009/2010 season . After three years without a club, the defensive player was on the ice for EHV Schönheide 09 in the major league in the 2014/15 season .

In the summer of 2014 Hoffmann ended his active professional career and then became assistant trainer for the Lausitzer Füchsen in the DEL2 . In December 2017 he was promoted to head coach, in July 2018 Hoffmann left the Füchse after an argument with the new assistant coach.

He has been a junior trainer at ESC Dresden since 2019.
