Robert Ferdinand Friedrich Hofmann (born January 11, 1869 in Leipzig ; † January 31, 1943 ) was a German local politician in Altenburg / Thuringia and in Leipzig.

Robert Ferdinand Friedrich Hofmann was the son of the writer and 48ers Friedrich Hofmann . After attending the Nicolaigymnasium in Leipzig in April 1888, he began studying German philology and philosophy and then law and economics at the University of Rostock . In Leipzig he joined the Arminia fraternity in 1888 . After the first state legal examination, he worked in the preparatory service at the local courts in Schwarzenberg , Leipzig and Borna , as well as at the public prosecutor's office in Leipzig and the Leipzig regional court.

In 1899 Hofmann became first city councilor and in 1904 mayor of Altenburg. In 1907 he became a paid city councilor in Leipzig and head of the health department , the housing and building police and co-founder of the milk hygiene research institute and the mother advice centers. In 1909 he was elected for life. In 1914 he organized the Leipzig Food Office as captain . In 1918 he became head of the settlement office and the tax office. From 1925 he was second mayor in Leipzig and head of the tax office, the city savings bank, the city bank and the city treasury. The Leipzig pawnshop and the Stadtkellerei were also subordinate to Hofmann.
