Robert Holzer (born August 2, 1966 ) is a former German soccer player who played 26 times in the Bundesliga for Hertha BSC .

Career

Holzer's first position in the professional sector was Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin , where he moved in 1987. Under coach Bernd Hoss , Holzer immediately became a regular player and reached 7th place at the end of the season . In the 1988/89 season Robert Holzer then played increasingly as a defender, but scored the most with nine goals behind Thorsten Schlumberger , who scored eleven goals. In the 1989/90 season , Bernd Schumm took over the coaching position and also under him Holzer was part of the team and only missed one game in the first half of the season. Since Blau-Weiß 90 was again only in the middle of the field at this point, Robert Holzer switched to local rivals and promotion candidates Hertha BSC during the winter break .

At Hertha, he played an important role in Werner Fuchs' plans and thus had a large share in the rise of the old lady . The first division season 1990/91 ended Hertha beaten in last place.

For the 1991/92 season Holzer went to Bayer 05 Uerdingen . There he did not get beyond the role of a supplementary player under Friedhelm Funkel . After the promotion he saw no more prospects in Krefeld and left the club.

His new club SC Fortuna Köln played for a long time in 1992/93 for promotion to the upper house of football, but then missed it. Robert Holzer struggled under Gerd Roggensack and did not play until the end of the season. On matchday 43, Robert Holzer injured himself so seriously in the away game at VfL Wolfsburg that he had to be replaced after twelve minutes. Because of this injury, he finally had to end his professional career.

After his playing career, Robert Holzer became a player's agent.
