Robert Jackson Bennett (* 1984 in Baton Rouge , Louisiana ) is an American fantastic writer.

Life

Bennett was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1984 and grew up in Katy , Texas . He studied at the University of Texas and now lives in Austin . His individual novels are difficult to assign to a single genre, they adopt elements from both horror and science fiction and fantasy literature. The framework for action is always the US past. With his trilogy The Divine Cities Bennett turned more to fantasy literature, and he describes The Founders Trilogy , which began in 2018, as a cyberpunk story in the guise of high fantasy .

His debut novel, Mr. Shivers , won the Shirley Jackson Award and the Sydney J. Bounds Award for the best young talent at the British Fantasy Awards . For his second novel, The Company Man , he received an Edgar Award in 2012 . In 2013 he received the Shirley Jackson Award again for American Elsewhere .
