Discoveries
As early as 1908, Jonckheere realized that he needed a larger telescope and a darker observation site . In the same year he built a new observatory in Hem near Lille . The new telescope made it possible to view astronomical objects further away . Jonckheere discovered a large number of previously unknown objects, including the planetary nebulae Jonckheere 320 and Jonckheere 900 . He is considered one of the leading double star explorers .
