Robert Koebler

Robert Hans Friedrich Köbler (born February 21, 1912 in Waldsassen ; † September 7, 1970 in Berlin-Buch ) was a German organist , pianist , composer and university professor in Leipzig .

After studying church music in Leipzig (1931–1934), he was cantor and organist in Löbau from 1935 to 1945 . From 1946 he had a teaching position for organ and harpsichord in Leipzig. In 1949 he became organist at the Leipzig University Church and in 1956 he was finally appointed professor.

Köbler was best known as an organist and for his often humorous improvisations. Concert tours have taken him to Eastern and Western European countries. As a composer he left behind works for piano, organ and vocals.
