Robert Kenner

Robert Kenner (born January 24, 1950 in New Rochelle , New York ) is an American film and television producer and director. Among his best known works is the 2010 nominated for an Oscar documentary Food, Inc. .

Life

Robert Kenner, from Mamaroneck , New York, attended the Solebury School in New Hope , Pennsylvania . At the age of 18 he was already working on his first film projects.

Kenner's entry into the film business began as a camera assistant in the early 1970s. In 1986 the first film he produced was released, the action thriller The Hour of the Cobras - 3:15 . Since then he has worked as a producer and director, with his main interests being documentary films. He created several documentaries on behalf of National Geographic , beginning in 1993 with the film The Lost Fleet of Guadalcanal , which thematizes the Battle of Guadalcanal .

From 1998 to 2016 Kenner produced five films for the series The American Experience of the TV chain PBS . This included a documentary about the Vietnam War Two Days in October , which won an Emmy in 2006 and a Peabody Award in 2005.

In 2008 Kenner's successful documentary Food, Inc. appeared , which caused an international sensation and was awarded numerous prizes. He had worked on this project for over six years in advance.
