Robert Krotzer

Robert Krotzer (born May 24, 1987 in Braunau am Inn , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician of the KPÖ and since April 5, 2017 City Councilor for Health and Care in Graz .

Life

Robert Krotzer was born in Braunau am Inn , attended elementary school in his home town of Burgkirchen , secondary school in Mauerkirchen and graduated from the Braunau Commercial Academy . He did his community service at Volkshilfe . In 2007 he moved to Graz in Styria to study German and History as a teacher . After completing his studies, he completed his teaching internship at the BRG Kepler and taught at the NMS / BG / BRG Klusemann.

Political career

In 2002 he joined the Communist Youth and in 2008 became national chairman. During his studies, he also joined the Communist Students' Association and ran for the ÖH elections . In 2011 he was elected as a top candidate at the University of Graz for a mandate in the university council and the history student council.

After the municipal council election in Graz in 2017 , he became City Councilor for Health and Care and thus, alongside Elke Kahr, the second communist member of the city government. At the age of 29, he is the youngest city councilor in the history of Graz.

During his tenure, he had the local council adopt a care model with a focus on mobile services rather than care homes. When there was an outbreak of measles in the LKH Graz in January 2019 , Krotzer, as City Councilor for Health, initiated extensive vaccination offers at schools in order to counteract the public uncertainty and to prevent another outbreak in the future.
