Robert Kunkel (born April 28, 1999 in Berlin ) is a German figure skater who starts in pair skating .

Athletic career

With Talisa Thomalla

Thomalla / Kunkel were German junior champions and took part in junior grand prix competitions and the junior world championships.

With Annika Hocke

Since 2019, Kunkel has been training with Annika Hocke , the 2018 Olympian , at the pair skating performance center in Berlin under the coaching team Alexander König , Romy Austria , Rico Rex and Dimitri Savin.

One week after their competitive debut, Hocke / Kunkel were the first German couple to move into a Junior Grand Prix final. At the German championship, the couple won the silver medal behind Minerva-Fabienne Hase / Nolan Seegert . At the Junior World Championships, Hocke / Kunkel won the small bronze medal for the freestyle and came fourth in the overall ranking.

In 2020 the couple took part in the European Championships and finished seventh. They were thus qualified for the 2020 World Figure Skating Championships , which were canceled due to Corona.
